These uncommon but useful plants can be treated like Cannas for summer bedding and in some areas are hardy.

Plant in a rich soil, water and feed with a liquid manure copiously. If planted in pots or tubs, water several times daily.

The foliage is attractive and many of the species are sweetly scented.
