This type of anemone is native to southern Europe and prefers a sunny position with rich, well-drained alkaline sandy soil, on heavy soils liberal amounts of grit should be incorporated to improve drainage and reduce any risk of the corms rotting. On very acid soils a light dressing of hydrated lime should be mixed into the soil before planting.
To assist germination of the cormous species soak overnight in water before polanting . Add a drop of washing-up liquid to break surface tension.
Excellent for cut flowers.
