Lilies can be left undisturbed for years and only need to be moved when they become overcrowded. Plant about 5″ (12cm) deep in well-dug, well-drained humus-rich soil, in a partly shaded, sheltered position, which will remain moist but not waterlogged. If the soil is heavy add grit to the planting hole. Protect against slugs in the spring. Specie lilies take a little longer to establish but are an excellent garden plant and a very unusual lily.
Flowering time: June-July.
Height: 120cm.
