Deep blue flowers.

Native to southern Europe and prefers a sunny position with rich, well-drained alkaline sandy soil, on heavy soils liberal amounts of grit should be incorporated to improve drainage and reduce any risk of the corms rotting. On very acid soils a light dressing of hydrated lime should be mixed into the soil before planting.
